For armor statistics, visit our [[Armor Statistics|Armor]] page!<h1 style="font-size: 35px;">The Smith's Way</h1>

The start to every great smithy is your tools. A '''hammer''' and '''tongs''' are essentials to the craft. There is no way to smith without them. If all smiths in the land have lost their tools, only the Steward could possibly purchase more tools.

There are only three types of workable metals within Rockhill:

* Iron, common and cheap.
* Steel, expensive and hard to make.
* Gold, priceless to those of the Merchant's Guild.

Iron can be made in any kind of furnace arrangement, but steel can '''only''' be made in a '''Great Furnace''', which is created with a Riddle of Steel, a price-y gem that costs 400 Mammons with the local Merchant. Gold can be used in any furnace setup, but is primarily used for bartering with the Steward or the Merchant.

=== The Laymans' Guide to Smithing: ===
# Grab your ingot of choice with your pair of tongs.
# Dip the tongs and the ingot into a forge; or, use an ore furnace that is alight to put it in and out.
# Place the hot and ready ingot on the anvil. It will start to cool rapidly, so get to work!
# Select the recipe you wish to create.
# Hammer the craft until your eyes flash white, or until it makes a loud ting (this is also the sound for a fumble).
# Heat the finished bar one more time, and dip it in a water basin or river.
# Sell!

=== The Laymans' Guide to Smelting: ===
* Items will not refund the full cost no matter what. You will only get one bar.
* Iron items do not magically become steel.
* Use wooden sticks to maximize your fuel; ore furnaces only last four minutes.
* Furnaces accept coal, sticks, small logs and cloth as fuel.

# Ensure your ore furnace is alight.
# Place the item within.
# Wait until it lets out a calm hiss following a minute of blasting.
# The bar can only be retrieved with a pair of tongs.

* Retrieving it early will only result in you pulling the item out. Useful for in-case you make a mistake!

=== How to Operate the Great Furnace: ===
# Place in either '''ONE''' coal or '''ONE''' small log.
# Place in '''THREE''' iron ore, or iron items.
# Wait until it '''COMPLETES'''.
# Take out your newly made steel!

OR...

# Place in '''FOUR''' items or ore of any kind.
# Wait until it '''COMPLETES'''.
# Retrieve your new mass of metals! Perfect for scrapping.

=== How to Repair For Sellswords: ===
* Having too low of a skill will cause you to fumble, damaging the piece. A good way to get shanked by a frustrated mercenary.

# Have your customer place the piece on your anvil, or yourself.
# Bang it until you are no longer able to work the metal.
# Profit!
'''Customizing (WIP)'''

When an item on your anvil is fully repaired right click it to open the customize menu. This will be expanded eventually... For now you can choose to name an item if you wish.

=== How to Sharpen for Fishermen: ===
* Scratch the bladed weapon with a rock.
* Or use a grindstone to maximize it's blade with little effort on your part.

=== The Working Man's Recipes for New Smithies: ===
* 4 rocks, 1 coal makes one: '''Ore Furnace''', '''Forge'''
* 1 Iron Ingot makes: '''Anvil'''
* 1 Iron Ingot, 1 rock makes: '''Grindwheel'''
* 1 Riddle of Steel (400 Mammoni), 2 Iron Ingots, 1 Coal makes: '''Great Furnace'''
* 2 Small Logs makes: '''Wooden Bin'''
Optimally, any smithy needs: an ore furnace, forge, anvil, and a wooden bin.
* 8 rocks
* 2 coal
* 1 iron ingot
* 2 small logs

=== Advanced Tips and Tricks' for the Bogsmiths: ===
* Wood can be used in place of coal to make steel.
* Wooden logs can be burnt to make coal.
* Forge and smelt items that only cost one ingot over and over to refine your skill.
* Use your starting coal to make a furnace, this way you would only need 1 coal and 3 small logs to start a smithy.

* Iron, common and cheap.

When an item on your anvil is fully healed right click it to open the customize menu.

* 8 rocks
* 2 coal
* 1 iron ingot
* 2 small logs

Most of this guide is stolen from the [https://wiki.stonekeep.xyz/index.php/Guide_to_Cooking Stonekeep Wiki] as the cooking system in Ratwood is from there!

== Basic Interactions ==
Some food items, such as raw steak and fish, can be left-clicked with a knife to mince into chunks. These are useful for then making anything other than cooked steak.

== Wilderness Survival ==
In the wild, you may not have a frying pan or stone oven. It is useful to know that in order to cook raw steak over an open flame such as campfire, you must hold a knife in one hand, then click the fire with the meat in your other hand.

If you'd like to get fancy, combine either ''2 minced meat'' or ''1 minced meat + 1 fat'' into sausage at a wooden table, then heat it the same you would a raw steak: knife in one hand, left click campfire with sausage in the the other. Enjoy wilderness cuisine!~

== Stew: The GOAT ==
'''After 91 days. Stew has been fixed. Praise the Ten.'''

An easy to make food that requires zero knowledge or skill and feeds a LOT of people!

# Make a stone pot from 2 stones
# Use it on a well or fill it with dirty murk water
# Place it upon a hearth until it boils
# Place 6 ingredients such as cut Potatos, Minced Meat, cut Cabbage, etc (doesn't have to be the same one! Mix and match!)
# Wait a while
# You now have a massive soup that can fill six bowls!
<small>''Hey man you wanna cook?''</small>

<small>''If you know something is full of the good stuff (reagents) and put it in a pot with enough water you can render it down to its base liquids.With enough swampleaf you could make em something they wont forget!''</small>

== Equipment ==
In a kitchen, you will need several items:

* '''Table:''' Sounds basic, but foodstuffs need to be sliced on a table. You can't do it on the ground, or in your hand. (But you should be able to do it on a tree stump)
* '''Oven:''' You can feed ovens with wood/cloth or coal and light it with a flint like any other furnace.
* '''Pan:''' Ditto as ovens, except you can fry things over a fire.
* Pot: Fill a pot with water, set it on a hearth, and wait for it to boil - it will make the sound of bubbling water when it's boiling.
* '''Cleaver/knife:''' What you use to cut foodstuff up.
* '''Spoon:''' Used to mix milk and make butter with.
* '''Fork:''' Used to eat food without your hands.
* '''Bucket:''' You can use this to transfer water to powder, and to mix salt with milk.
* '''Platter:''' Used to plate foods (gives small reagent buff currently), you can remove items from a platter with right click.

=== Spoiling ===
Food items left on the ground will spoil eventually, but if an item is inside of a chest (do not leave it in a sack) or on a table it will not! If you want an item to spoil, such as aged cheese, you will have to leave it on the ground.

=== Knowing When It's Done ===
If, for example, you have made a pie and add it to the oven to bake, it will take a brief amount of time to be finished baking. Don't leave the room while something is cooking. You will know when your food item is done by the chat notification <code>Something smells good!</code> and a subtle change in the food sprite in the oven.

If you don't take the food out of the oven (or pan) fast enough, your item will turn into a '''burned mess'''. This is not edible by anyone! Make sure to watch your cooking food! Seriously, burned mess is more potent than POISON.

== Equipment ==

=== Spoiling ===
Food items left on the ground will spoil eventually, but if an item is inside of a chest (do not leave it in a sack) or on a table it will not! If you want an item to spoil, such as aged cheese, you will have to leave it on the ground.

=== Knowing When It's Done ===

The barrel may have water in it, but be aware that the end product '''will''' be diluted.

To start the fermenting process, simply click to insert the fruit into the barrel, then wait for the bacteria to do the work!
* Wine - Jacksberries.
* Cider - Apples.
* Ale - Wheat or Oat grains.
== Basic Interactions ==
Some food items, such as raw steak and fish, can be left-clicked with a knife to mince into chunks. These are useful for then making anything other than cooked steak.

== Wilderness Survival ==

Most of this guide is stolen from the [https://wiki.stonekeep.xyz/index.php/Guide_to_Cooking Stonekeep Wiki] as the cooking system in Ratwood is from there!

== Basic Interactions ==
Some food items, such as raw steak and fish, can be left-clicked with a knife to mince into chunks. These are useful for then making anything other than cooked steak.

== Wilderness Survival ==

== Stew: The GOAT ==
'''STEW IS BROKEN, DON'T FUCK WITH IT.'''

An easy to make food that requires zero knowledge or skill and feeds a LOT of people!

# Make a stone pot from 2 stones
# Use it on a well or fill it with dirty murk water
# Place it upon a hearth until it boils
# Please 3 ingredients such as Potatos, Minced Meat, Cabbage, etc etc (doesn't have to be the same one! Mix and match!)
# Wait a while
# You now have a massive soup that can fill six bowls!

== Equipment ==
In a kitchen, you will need several items:

* '''Table:''' Sounds basic, but foodstuffs need to be sliced on a table. You can't do it on the ground, or in your hand.
* '''Oven:''' You can feed ovens with wood and light it with a flint like any other furnace.

=== Spoiling ===
Food items left on the ground will spoil, but if an item is inside of a chest or on a table it will not! If you want an item to spoil, such as if you want to age cheese, you will have to leave it on the ground.

=== Knowing When It's Done ===
