Beginner Guide

Welcome new soul, the pages within this guide will cover the basics of dwelling within this world. The rest is up to you to discover.

The Basics

Pick a Flaw in Character Creation

There's no pressure to make a fully fleshed out character your first round, but do choose a flaw, newcomer. Choosing no flaw, will choose one randomly, this can be tedious. If you find that your arm no longer works in a new round, it's because you rolled the one arm flaw.

Try Out a Non-Refugee Role

You are less likely to die and have a chance to learn what the game is about. Play actively and look to roleplay with others, placing your character assertively into situations. Be confident as your character! It's not you. As the Towner role, you can pick and own a house around town by going up to it and clicking on the door.

Chatting

Press M to EMOTE. Be as detailed and expressive as you want.

Press T to SAY things:

Put a # at the start to WHISPER.
Put a @ at the start to make a WHISPERED EMOTE. (SUBTLE)
Put a * at the start to emote in an alternative way.
You can also combine an emote and a message using t for SAY:
emote* message
example: spins around with a smile* I don't see why not. 
(Chatbox: [Character name] spins around with a smile, "I don't see why not.")

How to Sleep

Lay down (default v), then close your eyes by clicking one of the arrow buttons near the eye and await sleep's embrace. Simply dragging your sprite onto a bed and laying there will also restore your blue fatigue bar.

How to Drink Without a Cup

Cups are a luxury, one's mouth alone can suffice.

To drink from a water source like a fountain, or stream: Use bite intent and middle-click.

How to Climb

You'll need a free hand to climb. Click on a wall or tree to go up. Make sure there is a tile like a branch you can climb onto, by looking up with shift-f, or else you will fall. Left-Click on an empty tile in front of you to go down.

How to Heal

There are physicians around, and the church also has healers, you can ask for directions from players.

Sleeping can heal wounds as well, sleeping on a bed heals faster.

What can I do in this game?

This question is much alike to the question "What is the meaning of life." There is no meaning in general, you can live for whatever purposes you wish. You can get a job, or work for yourself. You can be a lascivious criminal. You can be a mercenary. You can be devout and celibate. You can blow all your money at the brothel. You can be a naked degenerate. You can delve into other's character and build relationships. You can overthrow the nobility. Do what is interesting for you and others, often the inhabitants of this place are freaky, and slavery is more interesting than death.

As long as you're roleplaying in good faith and trying to follow the rules, you can do as you wish!

The Big New Menu on the Left of your Screen

You can Left-Click and Right-Click the various GUI elements on the left of your screen to get different information and do actions.

The ERP Menu

Found a mate have you? To romance them, try to open the ERP menu. First turn off any bite/kick/jump/steal intent, and then middle-click drag your character sprite onto their sprite. You must both be on the same tile to do most actions.

You can also drag your character sprite back onto itself, to open a self-ERP menu.

You can do various *kiss emotes as well by targeting the different body parts. This author will tell you a secret; elves get a special message when you kiss their ears!~

The slap emote can be changed from a face slap to a ass slap if the groin is selected as a target.

The first bite won't hurt. (If not a vampyre)

Wilderness Survival

How can I survive in the bog?

As a Refugee, you are a foreigner to these lands. You start out in the dangerous swamps. If you want to go to town you need to head north to find the town. Sneaking lets you avoid ambushes from dangerous creatures. Avoid going through murky water, it risks getting leeches.

"The wilderness is a solemn place, but dangers can come sudden and unexpected, you'll need all your wits about you.

Food:

"I feel ill... these purple berries were poisonous."

Go to a bush and click on it until you find berries, if it "tastes like berry" on the very first bite, it's safe to eat. There are 2 colors of berry, 1 is randomly set as poisonous.

Self-Healing:

Go to a bush and click until you find a string and a thorn (or swing at grass for string). Then, click the craft button in the left-screen GUI to make a sewing needle. You can use this to stop bleeding, heal wounds, and craft certain items.

How to remove leeches:

Foul bloodsucking parasites found in swamp water.Click on the heart on your left screen. It shows you all of your limbs, and their health. Then click to pull the leeches off.

Light:

It is wise to collect 2 rocks. If your torch or campfire goes out, you can place it on the floor and smash 2 rocks together on that tile to reignite it.Another fire source or player's torch can reignite it as well.

Crafting:

You can swing at branches for sticks, or at the trunk for the whole tree, or at grass for string.

Death and Respawning

Fallen to the perils of the world? Worry not lost soul, it is not the end. When you perish you can now roam the world freer than you've ever been. In the Spirit Tab, you can Ghost Up or Ghost Down to help traverse terrain. When you are ready, pass on to the underworld and be reborn.

To reincarnate you need to find a Toll somewhere in the underworld to give to the Ferryman, beware of getting lost. Then take the carriage to return to the overworld.

If you remain 15 minutes in the underworld mercy will be shown upon you, and you'll get a free toll. A diligent soul could also do a burial ritual on your corpse while you are a spirit, or in the underworld, letting you be reborn.

Questions and Player Reporting

To be inquisitive is not a sin. Don't be afraid to ask questions to nearby characters, Discord, or with Mentorhelp.

Player Reports:

Reports are made in the Discord by typing /inquis The Round ID can be gotten from the #game-status section in Discord. Inquis doesn't work if your report is too long, so keep it concise.
