Basics of Money
Before you have an economy, or even commerce, you have currency. In our case, we have three coins, with their value measured in Mammons.
Zenny, or zennies, are copper coins worth 1 Mammon. Ziliqua, or ziliquae, are silver coins worth 5 Mammon. Zenar, or zenarii, are gold coins worth 10 Mammon. To split a stack of coins, hold them in your hand and click them with the other hand empty.
Ways to Gain Money
For the humble, working man of the lower class, ways to make money by your lonesome are few and far between. While you can trade with others, this isn't the most reliable of methods.
For reliable income, you can turn to the Submission Hole. Here, you can turn in various resources to the town's stockpile in return for money, which is then withdrawn from the Shylock. These resources can all fluctuate in price, based on the market and the whims of your local steward. Small tip: Use RMB while standing over pile of goods for quick selling.
Alternatively, you can make a deal with your local merchant, who has access to a Navigator, a machine that attracts flying balloons willing to buy various items.
The Navigator will, at regular intervals of about 3 minutes, take any item with monetary value within two tiles and sell them. This will leave a pile of coins on the ground, equal to the value of the items sold, minus taxes. Keep in mind that the Navigator will also take loose coins, as they have monetary value, eventually sending all of your earnings straight to the tax man.
Depending on your job, you may also have access to a Peddler machine. The Peddler acts as a custom vending machine, storing items to sell at custom prices to passersby. To stock it with items and collect your earnings, you need to unlock it with your key, which changes based on where the Peddler is located.
Ways to Spend Money
So you have some money. Now what?
Well, there's a few things you can do. You can use it to do business with other players, either directly or through the aforementioned Peddler.
The merchant can use money in order to purchase various items through their Goldface machine.
The steward can use their Nerve Master in order to order shipments of materials to be used by the town, the same resources that are purchased by the Submission Hole.
Tools of the Trade
- Valuing Items (works if you have Greedy vice, or if you are Steward or Merchant) - Shift+Clicking an object will give you a valuation in the text field of your screen. This is the objects worth. If there is no value - the object can not be sold to The Navigator (see below) PLEASE NOTE Some weapons and armors may have 1 as a value - this does not mean you can not buy and sell locally for a higher price.
- The Navigator - On the top of the Merchant's House there is an orb called The Navigator. This is where you sell all items for more sweet, sweet Zennies. Clicking on the orb shows how much tax is applied to your sale as well as when the next Balloon comes to sell all the items. To sell - simply drop the items on the floor.
- The Guildface - In the room to the south of where you spawn there is a machine called GUILDFACE. You can deposit Zennies in here in order to import goods from multiple categories. PLEASE NOTE The tab Secrets allows you to purchase more licenses to expand this shop.
- The Peddler - Next to the shop windows is a machine called The Peddler. Unlock it with your key ring and you can put common items for sale inside and set a price. This allows quick transactions from passing people. Items like pouches, belts, satchels and sacks are frequently asked for items you can put in here for quick trading!
Vault income
As a steward, you'll have access to the royal vault. You should put valuable items there. Over time (each 5-8 minutes), the Vault generating mammons for Banking. Ammount of income depends on:
- uniqueness of an item in a vault, each subsequent item inside the vault of the same type reduces its value for income by 33% (eg. if you place 3 items with value 50, their separate value for the income will be 50, 34, 23 etc.)
- Interest rate - cutting down an income value to 25% of our item value (after the uniqueness of the item was taken into account)
- Guild's Tax - a value random for every round. It could be 9, 15, 21 or 30%. You wish this value to be at lowest levels.
E.g: We placed 2 same gems with their true value of 400 and 400. Their summary value after uniqueness check would be 400 and 132. 523 in sum. After interest rate we'll have 523 * 0.25 = 131. Plus Guild taxes: 131 - (133*0.15) = 101. So, our total vault income would be 101 zennies every 5-8 minutes.
!!!!Coins does not infuence on vault value, its pointless to place a pile of zennies there!!!
Useful Tips
- Creating Notes - The shop has many scrolls laying around. Open a scroll and use a feather on it in order to leave notes to customers. Prices lists, Be right back signs, etc can be useful for the Role.
- Sacks - There are two sacks in the Merchant house. Use these in order to move goods upstairs to sell.
- Taxes - Make sure to keep an eye on the Tax Percentage. Purchase an item for too much and you will lose money when you sell to The Navigator.
